~~~~~~~~2015 Race~~~~~~~
The 2015 race was unique .....
The Lord Mayor Brenda Arthur, and Sheriff Beryl Blower drew Lucky Dip Ducks before the race then after the, countdown heaved ALL the ducks into the river, then the fun began ...
The tide should have turned at around 4pm but the heavy rain made it later and that combined with the wind mean't the ducks went in the opposite direction and then just to tantalise the racegoers they changed their minds for a few minutes before a gust blew them on upriver, then a few broke away and made for the finishing line.
Then owing to time constraints the finish was moved towards the ducks and 5 winners were collected much to the relief of the hardworking Duck Race Team then a Little Lost Duck was selected at random from the back of the race.
The Lord Mayors Lucky Dip winners were:-
 3169 Astra Meal for 2 at Wetherspoons
1770 Seagrove/Chilvers Hollywood Bowl
2714 Meal at Nandos
2377 J Carter Odeon tickets
The Race winners were:-
3053 Andrew Stone £250
0032 K Glanville £125
4480 Amanda £75
Adults raise the pounds so that the kids can spend a penny.
21 June 2013: Two adult Scouting volunteers are preparing for an epic cycle ride from Germany back to Norwich to raise money for new toilet facilities at an Old Lakenham camping ground.
The pair, Matthew Burrell (32) and James South (29) both from Norwich will be starting the approximate 360 miles home from Koblenz on Tuesday 2 July.
They will travel via Hohenlimberg where local Scouts are linked with the 1st Norwich Sea Scouts who are based in Old Lakenham.
The new camping ground just off Cooper’s lane in Old Lakenham provides Scouting’s young members with a place to camp and take part in outdoor adventures including water activities using the river access.
“While the site is fantastic at moment, the addition of some toilets and basic washing facilities will mean that more young people can enjoy the great outdoors” Matthew explained.
The finish line of the ride will be the starting line of another Scouting fundraiser the Great Norwich Duck Race, which takes place a 14:00 on Sunday 7 July at Riverside and is part of the Lord Mayor’s celebrations.
The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Keith Driver has provided letters for the Burgermeisters of both Koblenz and Hohenlimburg that will be presented while the cyclists are en-route.
Sponsorship helped them raise around £2000 for scouting in Norwich
